Demonstration Schedule

In its 41st year, the Oregon Potters Association will feature 200 members, many of them showing and selling their work for the first time at the 2024 Ceramic Showcase. This three-day event, filled with ceramic artists, designers, and innovators from Oregon and Southwest Washington, is the largest of its kind in the nation. Joined by the Gathering of the Guilds in a new location, Hall D of the Oregon Convention Center, visitors will experience a new entrance through the gallery.

Not just a sale, both adults and children will discover educational opportunities on the Demonstration Stage and in the Clay Exploration Area. Visitors can choose from thousands of handcrafted pieces including sculptures, wall art, and functional pottery for the home, garden, and workplace, as well as beautiful gifts for Mother’s Day, weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations. Members of the press and the public are cordially invited to this vibrant celebration of ceramic creativity.

This three-day event will feature:

  • The Emerging Artists Booth will showcase up-and-coming OPA members.
  • OPA’s Intercultural Committee will showcase their cultural exchanges including a recent juried exhibition in Hokkaido Japan. Their newest project is a collaboration with potters from Oaxaca, Mexico; their work will be available for purchase at the booth.
  • Clay in Education fundraising supports a High School Scholarship booth and award each year.
  • This year’s theme is: “Fruits of our Labor”  The sale will feature fruit themed vessels, plates, pots, bowls, and of course everyone’s favorites: mugs, steins, cups, etc, all donated by OPA members and studio partners. Money raised pays for OPA members to teach ceramics in Oregon schools at no cost to the schools.
  • Come play with some mud! Live Demos and Clay Exploration Area for Kids and Adults will feature demonstrations of hand-building techniques from professional potters. Children of all ages (including those young at heart) are encouraged to take a piece of clay, mold it into something unique and contribute it to the collective masterpiece. Kids can also participate in a scavenger hunt!

Support Clay in Education with a suggested donation of $3; once again, this is a free event for all attendees.

Oregon Potters Association is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and a member of the Oregon Cultural Trust.
