In this workshop Amy will demonstrate her process in creating a pierced vessel. Amy's vessels begin on the wheel and are pierced just after trimming. Amy will discuss various tools used in the cut out process and ideal stages of dryness of the pot as it is carved. She will also go over cleaning the burrs after piercing.

You Will Learn:

  1. Ideal stage of dryness of the vessel to pierce.
  2. Tools and techniques for creating an evenly spaced pierced vessel.
  3. Cleaning rough edges before firing.

Materials Needed:

  • A small thin vessel, something that might hold approximately 8oz.
  • Hole and/or shape cutters.
  • Water and a small smooth sponge.
